Finding a Home with a Short Commute
Commuting to and from work on average adds up to about 9 days per year. The national average one-way commute time is 30 minutes, but here in the Fargo-Moorhead area, that time is almost cut in half at around 16.9 minutes. This commute time is so short that Fargo makes the list for the top ten shortest commute times in the nation!
Even though those of us who live in this area can feel good about our short commute time, it is still something to consider when selecting where you want to live. In our cold climate, biking or walking to work is not always possible, but if walking to work in the summertime is something you value, you will want to consider this when looking for a place to live. Finding an apartment that is practical for your lifestyle and fits your needs will help ensure that you are happy in your home throughout your entire lease period.
When viewing properties that you may want to call home, take an extra couple minutes at the beginning or end of your appointment to time how long it takes you to get to work. If you want to simulate real time conditions that will be most like your regular drive, try timing the commute at the time when you normally go to work. It is important to remember that in our area your commute may be slightly longer in the wintertime due to icy weather conditions.
Our agents at Prairie Property Management are familiar with the FM area and many of the surrounding businesses, so if you are moving from out of state or are just looking for a new place to call home, feel free to give us a call and we can discuss different properties that might work for you.
